Montana Assn. of REALTORS
Helena, MT
The Risk Management Blog of the Montana Assn. of REALTORS is not open to the public, it sits behind password protected entry for members only. As far as we can determine, this is the first REALTOR Risk Management Blog in the country. Oregon attorney Matt Farmer recently told association executives at their national confab that a risk management blog is an information tool that associations can use to build value for their members. "Blogs and hotlines go together like peas and carrots," he said. Legal hotlines provide information to single members, and blogs offer associations a way to communicate that information to its members at large, as well as inviting comment. We cannot access Montana's blog, but the association members CAN, and that's what counts. Congratulations, Montana Assn. of REALTORS, on taking a proactive role in educating your membership about risk management using 21st century communication!

- Mar 18, 2007 8:14:42 AMGood morning.
Congratulations to the Montana Association of Realtors® on what appears to be the first Risk Management Blog for members of the Realtor® community.
I am a blogger personally and I also have the privilege of serving as Chairman of the Orlando Regional Realtor Association Risk Management Task Force. We are developing a Risk Management Certification; a curriculum for the Brokers and their Associates, a web site with an "Ask the Attorney" feature and several other Risk Management tools for our membership. We're meeting this week and a Blog was definitely on my list of recommendations to the group. We have an excellent Legal Hotline through the Florida Association of Realtors®, but I agree that a Blog is the PERFECT next progression. I was hoping to be first with the Risk Management Blog, but "hats off" and my sincere Congratulations to the Montana Association!!!
Up to this point our Association has not had anything "official" and certainly has not had an integrated comprehensive program or Risk Management tools for our membership of over 11,000 Realtors®. We have significant offerings from our excellent Education department, but there hasn't been anything organized specifically with a Risk Management focus.
I would love to exchange information with someone at the Montana Association and would appreciate anything you'd be willing to share with a fellow Realtor® Association. FYI, we have the secure "Members Only" technology with strong two factor identification (ID & user name PLUS a token/key fob that generates an additional random password) so I especially appreciate that you're doing this "behind the wall" for your Members. GREAT JOB!
