Reecon Advisors, Inc. Launches Real Estate Economy Watch

A much-needed void in real estate news is finally being filled.
Real Estate Economy Watch, is a new web site that promises insight and intelligence regarding residential real estate and it’s impact on the economy.

Leading economist David Lereah and public relations executive Steve Cook, both alumni of The National Association of REALTORS® are taking advantage of their prolific contacts to bring “more
analysis, fresher insight, expanded data, and more timely commentary.”
Lereah was chief economist for the Mortgage Bankers Association and then for the NAR. Cook, a former senior vice president of NAR, is a trained journalist. The partners founded Reecon Advisors, Inc. in 2008, billing the firm as an independent real estate economic information company.
Their first foray into news intel was the Reecon Advisory Report, a weekly subscription-only newsletter. Seeing momentum building based on need, they decided to make their findings publicly accessible.
“Real estate brokers, agents, builders, lenders, investors and other real estate professionals will find a wealth of information they can use,” explains David Lereah, president of Reecon Advisors, “including real estate trends, the housing crisis, real estate investment, foreclosures, real estate consumers, economic indicators and indicators of the real estate recovery.”
The reason? “Never has it been more challenging—and more critical--to understand the factors shaping the residential real estate markets,” he continues. “Real Estate Economy Watch is designed to help real estate professionals, investors and consumers identify signs of recovery in the residential markets so that they can anticipate challenges and take advantage of opportunities.”
Explains Cook, “Real Estate Economy Watch contains David’s insights on the residential marketplace, and how they’re affected by overall economic conditions, government crisis policies and the latest market developments that impact real estate sales and property values.”

In addition, real estate markets are monitored and analyzed, including homebuilding trends, foreclosures, investment activities, consumer confidence, leading indicators, recovery trends, and advice on how to interpret this vast data.

As a fellow real estate news journalist, I applaud this new site, particularly in light of the fact that newspapers are failing financially. Who is there to tell the story of what’s really happening in the economy as it relates to real estate?

If you want news on the national level with the interpret the big picture as it applies to local markets, then add Real Estate Economy Watch to your favorites.
